Hi all,
I know my spelling sucked in the title of this post, and it'll suck yet again. <grin> I just had a cortizone shot today in my shoulder. The doctor injected both lythicaine and pregnizone. My question is, how long should it take for it to kick in? It's really hurting my tonight, so I'm curious.
Thanks

Jen

Hi Jen:

I hate those damn shots. The doctors seems to dispense that stuff like water, too. I had them in my fingers, and frankly, they didn't help a whole lot, so I hope your experience is better than mine. It took a few days for me, and even then, I can't say it made much of a difference. Good luck.

well, instead of cortizone shots, i had to use cortizone cream. they have the same effects but i had to be required to use it because i had a disease called pitoriasis rosea.
Have anybody heard of that before.
i read that this condition lasts anywhere from 5 to12 weeks and the longest it have ever lasted is 4 months. it comes with other symptoms, im not that sure about that though?
but the cream is the alternative.
Why you had to get the shot?

by the way, many people mistake that with measles or chickenpox anyhow because its very similar to the adult form of chicken pox.

I had a couple shots in my lacrymal gland (tear-producing gland that rests on top of the eye) and it wasn't fun, but at least a couple days later (for me) I was feeling a ton better, and the effects lasted quite awhile as well.

I have partial rotator cuff tares in both shoulders. I've received two shots in the right shoulder, and I sware I have more pain in that shoulder than in the left.
Anybody have any suggestions other than therapy, pain killers, ETC?

Acupuncture/acupressure? I've actually heard a lot of good things about them for dealing with pain, injuries, etc.. Not sure if you'd consider them "therapy" though, heh.

I'll keep brainstorming.

My brother got a cortizone shot because of a slipped disk in his back. He stayed in bed for a few days.

I have had those shots in my feet, and my neck. I have degenerative disc disease and oh God, did those shots hurt. It did help though. Speaking of those shots, I think I am due for one soon ouch!!!!!!
Good luck,
Patti
